Dr. Dennis teaches in Modesto, California. Typical lesson times range from 3:00 - 7:30 pm, with special lesson times scheduled as needed.
As a young flutist, Dr. Dennis was required to learn scales, was pushed to memorize and constantly encouraged to excel.
She was fortunate to have excellent teachers and works to live up to their high
standards.
As an adult, Dr. Dennis now encourages her students to learn the same things
she learned as a child.
All students are required to learn scales, major and minor. In addition, they are taught arpeggios, vibrato, double tongue,
etudes and the standard flute repertoire. Students are encouraged to succeed; to do that
they are required to practice. Realizing that it can be difficult to motivate young people (and adults) to practice,
Dr. Dennis works with each child individually to help them to achieve their practicing goal.
Students perform in two recitals and the CMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival. Students are also encouraged to audition for youth orchestras,
competitions and participate in school band programs and other community music festivals.
Dr. Dennis strives to help each student become the best and happiest musician possible.

Teaching Style
Music should be enjoyable. Therefore, students are treated kindly and with respect. Emphasis is placed on accuracy and students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. Materials used include the Flute Student series as well as solo books, duet books, and extra technical studies the student may need.
Students are taught general music theory, major/minor scales and arpeggios. Older and more accomplished students work out of the various etude methods,
Taffenel/Gaubert and the standard flute literature. Strong emphasis is placed on memorization.
Students are required to practice daily, because only through practice will they continue to learn and grow.
Students who do not practice may be removed from the studio. In addition to lessons and regular at-home practice, students perform in two recitals per
year.
Students are also encouraged to perform in competitions and youth orchestra programs.
Dr. Dennis has a business license enabling her to work in the
Central Valley.
